Íngrid Amer Cid

Íngrid (with a fancy Í) is originally from Sant Quirze del Vallès, a village next to Barcelona. She was graduated from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, Cerdanyola del Vallès) in Physics. During those years she developed a strong interest in the science of light and after an internship in the research center of The Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO, Castelldefels) she decided to become a photonics engineer. In 2015 she started the European Master of Science in Photonics at Gent University (UGent, Belgium). One year later, she moved to Germany to carry out her thesis about organic photovoltaics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT, Karlsruhe).
In 2017 she was graduated from Gent University with an MSc.

She fell in love with the city and the people of Gent, so just like that, Íngrid tackled a new adventure in Gent becoming a Ph.D. student in the Liquid Crystal and Photonics (LCP) group.

Íngrid's research focus on developing a label-free optical biosensor aiming single-molecule sensitivity using strategically nanoparticle probes and based on electrophoresis.

Outside her job, she enjoys sports the most: swimming, water polo, dancing, climbing, biking...

Chocolate drives her crazy (gek)!
